Mr Mason, how can i develop my ability to deal with dissent. i find it a problem and my need to alter me inability to deal with it as i dont want the game to be about the referee who cant take and banter?

Clear and open dissent should be dealt with according to the laws. Following the guidelines issued under the Respect Programme will help you. Engaging the help of the team captains are appropriate will help you to deal with this problem.

David King, England

Do you think the FA Respect campaign is having an impact at the top level?

The Respect Programme, to give it the correct title, has got off to a very positive start and to date is working well with a lower than average number of cautions and send offs to date. Players and managers as well as match officials have fully embraced the programme.

Stuart Richardson, England

A manager who is also named on the team sheet as a player has been removed from the technical area for Irresponsible behaviour, however as he is named as he is named as a player, can he then take up his position as a named substitute to then take part in the game if needed

If the manager is a named on the team sheet as a substitute and commits a cautionable or sending off offence whilst in the technical area he should, like any substitute or substituted player be cautioned or sent off and shown the appropriate card .if he is shown the red card he cannot take any part in the game or take up a position in the technical area.

Phil Clayton, England

Hi Lee How disappointed are you that you were promoted to the SG and then have rarely had a PL game since?

Every Select Group appointment is an important game and therefore whichever division you are refereeing in you must give the game your maximum focus and attention.
