Keith Stroud

Referee: Keith Stroud

appointed to the FIFA International Assistant Referees list in 2004. Joined the Select Group Referees list in 2007.

Week 6

Phil Clayton, England

I was just wondering your opinion on a 25 year old referee in the Select Group after only one year on the National List?

Firstly congratulations to Stuart Attwell on this fantastic achievement. Refereeing throughout the country has evolved and we are seeing more and more youngsters take up the whistle. What an incentive and moral boost to all of these referees to see Stuart achieve this level at the age of 25. This needs to be looked at in a positive way by us all and highlights the forward thinking and commitment the PGMOL has towards its officials. I am sure that Stuart will have many successful years as a Select Group Referee and we will see further promotions of such talent in future years.

Paul Shotling, England

Do you watch matches you've officiated in back on Match of the Day that night?

I have always watched MOTD over the years and continue to watch it when I can, whether I have refereed a match on a weekend or not.

Kieran Davidson, England

Who is the best football player amongst the select group of referees?

Well, we all think we are the best footballer but seeing the group trying to play, is an education. Probably the most talented footballer amongst us is Mark Clattenburg, but personally I think we should all stick to what we do best!!!

Steve Jones, England

What would you say the major differences are between refereeing, say, at Premier League Level to parks level other than player skill levels?

Obviously the pressures surrounding the top level of our game are a major factor. The media, players, team officials and spectators expectation levels are high and we need to deliver professional performances every week. Any flaws are highlighted throughout the world and what we do as match officials at the top level considerably affect grassroots football.
