THE RECENT QUIZ WINNERS HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO REFWORLD

October's Refworld quiz winner has been confirmed as New Zealander Mark Hester who wins a Polar Heart Rate Monitor after his great effort in answering the latest set of tough questions about the world of refereeing.

Those of you who may recognise the surname, need not worry of any inside help because Mark is not related to New Zealand referee Mike Hester who last month was selected for the provisional list of referees for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and has recently been in Nigeria at the FIFA U17 World Cup with our very own Howard Webb.

Mark is a regular visitor to Refworld.com, a site he feel provides readers with a valuable information about officiating at the highest level:

“I have followed the English Premier League closely for as long as I can remember and being a referee for 16 years I also took a keen interest in officiating and the officials,” explained last month's delighted prize winner.

“I heard about the quiz through the PGMOL website and welcomed the opportunity to test my knowledge.

“I was using the website as a resource to help my improvement and preparation as a referee. In particular, the weekly training plans have proven very valuable as well as the various features, directives and profiles.

“I was overjoyed to hear that I had won for October and am looking forward to continuing to participate in further quizzes throughout the season.”

His comments echo those of the winner of the first ever quiz for August and September.

On being notified he had won Jonathan commented:

“I was told about the PGMOL site by a refereeing colleague. As an active referee I have found the site a fantastic resource and a good way to keep up with refereeing in the world's best league.

“The information on the site regarding fitness training is especially useful.

“I thought the quiz would be a good way to test my knowledge against other referees, and also have some fun.

“To win the heart rate monitor is fantastic, it will be a great asset to my fitness training.”
