National Group Andy D'Urso
Andy has been a National List match official since 1990 when he was appointed to the National List of assistant referees. He has been a National List referee since 1994 and in addition to spending seven seasons as a SG referee he was also a FIFA referee for four years. He has refereed the FA Charity Shield, the FA Youth Cup Final, and the League One Play Off Final in 2007. Married with two teenage children his hobbies include music, gardening and travel.
How did you get introduced into refereeing?
Played football at school and for a local club, but not good enough so decided to take up the whistle.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Referee the FA Community Shield 2001 and Referee the League 1 Play Off Final 2007
What is the best game you have officiated and why?
Probably the League 1 Play Off Final, because it was a fantastic opportunity to referee at the New Wembley Stadium.
What are your aims as a National List Referee?
To Referee more Play Off Final and would love the opportunity to referee on the FA Premier League
What skills do you think you need to become a referee?
Good Man Management and Communication skills are essential and a sound knowledge of the laws of the game.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career and why?
My Family. Without their support I could not achieved what I have done throughout my refereeing career.
