Assistant Referee Dean Mohareb

Location: Cheshire

How did you get introduced into refereeing?

I started at the age of 16 and completed the course as part of the Duke of Edinburgh awards.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Being promoted on to the National List was the best moment in my career as I entered the professional game as a match official.

What is the best game you have officiated and why?

All games are equally important but refereeing the FA National Leagues Systems Cup Final at the end of the 2007/08 season was the proudest moment in my refereeing career.

What are your aims as a National List Assistant Referee?

I try to perform to the very best of my abilities on each and every game. Obviously, I would like to be considered for Play-Off games and such but simply officiating on the Football League is such an honour.

What skills do you think you need to become an Assistant Referee?

In my opinion, concentration, alertness, fitness and strength of character and mind are some of the main skills required to become a top level Assistant Referee.

Who has been the biggest influence in your career and why?

I have been fortunate in that there have been a lot of people who I owe a lot of debt and gratitude to for the support, advice and assistance they have given me throughout various stages in my refereeing career.

In your opinion who is/was the best Assistant Referee?

I think the standard of Assistant Refereeing is world class in this country. Obviously, somebody like Philip Sharp who officiated at the World Cup Final sets the standards for others to follow.
